Calactors.com was begun in 1998 when there were not a lot of Orange County, CA theater web sites and virtually nothing for local actors to put their photos and resumes up on in the internet. People did not know where to go to see local theater and much needed links for theatrical providers and theaters' seasons were in short supply. For years I even provided hundreds of reviews on line of local theatrical productions from Eric Marchese of the OC Register complete with production pictures.

Today, as you know, there are thousands of sites catering to the actor's every need and the theater aficionado's every want and the internet is growing exponentially every day. The theatrical community has recognized the value of the internet and has "acted" accordingly, no longer relegating the web to techies with their bulletin boards or high tech companies anxious to sell a new gismo.

Over ten years ago this June, I also started the West Coast Ten-Minute Play Project which includes a national contest and festival. Due to venue complications I was unable to hold the contest last year and quite frankly it does not look good for this year as well.

Again, when the contest was started there was nothing like it in the Orange County, CA area, let alone nationally, other than the famous ten-minute play contest in Louisville, Kentucky's Humana Festival which served as my initial blue print. Now ten-minute play contests and ten-minute play evenings proliferate; their value understood and appreciated by the widest of audiences.

I do not know how long I will continue this site since it's function has long ago been taken up by numerous other local web sites in Orange County and beyond. However, for the sake of a six year old site -- I have updated the pages although the ten minute play contest and festival will only reflect the ones most recently held.

With regards to the West Coast Ten Minute Play Project, I am still actively searching for a new home for the contest and festival -- a home where the history of the contest can rest in peace and the future of the project will be carried on by a new group of artistic people eager to keep something alive that started it all in the Orange County, CA area.
